"If you own a light you absolutly must open it up to clean the dust out and/or to change the bulb. Cleaning these things on a weekly or monthly basis (depending on usage) is essential for the health of the light. Once a month I go to work on my lights with a can of compressed air, q-tips, napkins w/o prints, water, windex, and kodak photo flo."
